Vote for Louth

Louth Town Partnership is asking for help from the public to help it win a competition which would make the town even lovelier. All residents have to do is visit a website or make a call and cast a vote for Louth. <?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The Partnership has got through to the second round of the NatWest Bank’s competition which offers a prize of £6,000 in funding to help enhance the town’s street scene and gateways.

If successful, the Partnership would work with all sections of the community not only to improve the visual appeal of Louth but also to expand the community garden scheme which encourages local residents to help themselves to locally grown vegetables and herbs planted in special beds around the town.

Louth Town Manager, Alison Hall, said: “This funding would help build on the already fantastic work carried out by the local authorities and community groups who tend the townscape and improve the natural landscape. The Louth Town Partnership finalised its annual action plan this week and this includes the pledge to enter Louth into the <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />East Midland’s ‘In Bloom’ competition. This funding would really kick-start our efforts.”

The project would also aim to encourage young people to learn and practice gardening skills and appreciate locally sourced food.

Floral displays would enjoy the artistic input of young people which would enhance the town’s environment for Louth’s residents, shoppers and visitors.

Alison added: “We know that planting helps make a good impression for the town for our visitors as well as increasing civic pride for our residents.”
