Late night Christmas shopping this year in Louth

When you’ve called it a day, why not make it a night? That’s the message to shoppers Louth Town Partnership is sending out this Christmas.

With the promise of street entertainment hosted by the Partnership, over 50 independent and national stores have agreed to stay open until 8pm on two Friday evenings - December 9 and 16.

Traditionally Louth, like most towns, has hosted its late night opening on a Thursday evening. However the Partnership sought business feedback which overwhelmingly supported a change to Friday.

At the same time many Louth market traders also have agreed to extend their trading until 8pm to take advantage of the entertainment and attractions.

To support businesses opening and add to the festive spirit, the Partnership has arranged several buskers to come to the town and play their music. From saxophone players to guitarists, accordion players to singing duets, there will be music to suit all tastes around every corner and down every street.

Festive stilt walkers and a fire show will also be performed on the two late nights.

Children can meet Santa and receive early Christmas gifts by visiting the New Market Hall during 4-6pm.

Louth town centre boasts a number of independent specialist shops as well as key national chains and people can be sure to find those special Christmas gifts whilst enjoying an enjoyable evening out.

Car parks will also be free from 6pm.
